NetCreations to be Exclusive
Opt-in Email Direct
Marketing Partner for ICQ
November 4, 1999--NetCreations, Inc., a provider of opt-in email direct marketing
services, today announced an exclusive agreement with ICQ, Inc. to build opt-in
email address lists of interested ICQ users who choose to receive targeted email messages
about products and services of interest. ICQ, Inc., an interactive brand of America
Online, Inc. (NYSE: AOL), describes itself as the world's largest online communications
community, with
over 45 million registrants.
Under the agreement, ICQ users will be able to sign up to receive targeted emails from
direct marketers about products and services in categories selected by the ICQ visitor.
NetCreations' PostMasterDirect.com service will manage the opt-in email address lists
generated by the sign-up forms.
The NetCreations approach to direct marketing includes a double opt-in registration
process to ensure ICQ users are choosing to receive targeted email messages in
self-selected categories. In addition, an easy opt-out system is in place allowing users
to remove themselves from these lists at any time.
Under the two-year agreement, NetCreations will be the exclusive manager for ICQ of all
databases compiled from ICQ users who opt in to receive targeted email messages on behalf
of third-party advertisers in self-selected categories.
